Hi Scott. I am very concerned about the budget cuts to the ABC. In particular cuts to coverage in rural and regional areas will have significant negative impacts. In many cases there are no other media organisations willing or able to do serious journalism in these areas. This is why a well funded ABC is so vital.

Will the Greens be able to block any of these budget cuts in the Senate? What other measures can be taken to protect the ABC from a government intent on emasculating it?

Last night a group of students occupied the Legislative Yuan, Taiwan's parliament, to protest against the legislature's failure to review a trade agreement with China. So far the protest has had no coverage by international media. Will there be something about it on ABC Radio's PM tonight?

I hope your colleagues at the ABC are reading this and some of them can put together a story.
