I think as it was a privilege for you to meet them once again in person it was even a bigger privilege for them to be able to give you your life. It is a rare occasion when a soldier is granted the opportunity to give a life instead of taking one, and I'm sure that after all the death that they've seen it was a great honour and a privilege to be able to be the ones who released Dachau.
