As a person who is very interested in this crazy industry did you have any cool stories that you can tell us ?

I'm specifically interested in watercooler tales. Like what the people who worked there had done and seen in their time.

There have been a few attempts to makes drones deliver food. A lot of the problem is with end user.

'Tacocopter' was a non-serious approach. 'Burrito bomber' was another tongue in cheek approach. The 'matter net' is the nearest thing i've seen to a serious concept.

Both concepts worked for short range delivery. The main problem is that no one really wants a drone flying over their house dropping food in the front yard. People are going to get very upset about that very quickly unless our drones become far more reliable than they currently are. I think in the right situation where you were delivering fresh food to boats off shore 'tacocopter' could work. I jus don't think you will be seeing anything flying over the suburbs.

As a guy that knows the risks. Unless you have a huge backyard there isn't a safe way to make this happen without making an insane situation for the end user. Imagine having to have 'the pizza guys' set up an area of your lawn with IR LED's and have to inspect them all the time. This is just a level of intrusiveness that no one is going to tolerate.

The sad answer is I know people who could deliver your pizza and beer tomorrow. We just can't take the risk on a regular basis.
