President Putin never said that "the demise of the Soviet Empire was the greatest tragedy of the twentieth century". What he did say, the most accurate translation at least is "we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the century". He was referring to the millions of Russians who all of a sudden found themselves living in a different country as a disaster. Why would you change his words in such a way to imply that you disagree with him, when Putin made clear he thought it would have been better if the 1917 Revolution had never happened?

Maybe the captain can write it down in a postcard and mail it to one of us?

Personally I wouldn't ever push someone in a pool unless they're clearly prepared to be wet (wearing a swimsuit, not carrying anything, etc). Even before cell phones, if they're wearing non-swimming apparel, getting soaked may ruin their day, and I don't want to be responsible for that.
