I hope there is time for more questions. Mine is kind of specific. So I've been using NEAT and its derivates for a few years now, and there is a thing that bothers me about hyperNEAT and ES-HyperNEAT. As i understand the idea behind having a CPPN among other things is to have smaller genomes that can create much larger phenotypes. However, pretty often I'd run in the case where a CPPN ends up being much larger than its phenotype. I think it becomes more pronounced when you add things like connection cost to the fitness. So, how do you overcome such things and minimize the genome as well as the phenotype? I guess including yet another objective about that is an option ...
