Although it's not exactly because of "national security," IIRC, people from wikileaks have stated that they've redacted and not released certain documents that could potentially endanger a person's life, (e.g. documents identifying informants,) and that combing through documents for info like this is a big reason it takes so long to gradually release documents.

Success is 90% attitude. You already got that down so you can get far in life, further than what I think you realize.

On the other hand, it'll also increase use of more carbon intensive transportation once it inevitably becomes cost-effective. The way I see it, it's a lose-lose situation environmentally. But there is a clear win/lose situation economically unless government takes some serious action agaisnt exploiting tar sands
