My dad died in a motorcycle wreck when I was 19, my brother was 18. We have the same weird sense of humor. Maybe 5 years after dad died, an older cousin walked up to me & my brother during some holiday thing & said "So...what's your dad up to these days?"

Brother & I were silent for maybe 10 seconds. Stood there looking at cousin, didn't dare look at one another.

Brother blurts out "Oh........same thing."

edit: this same brother (my "irish twin") died of kidney cancer 2 yrs ago. I really hope I never run into someone who doesn't know because I don't have much of a sense of humor about that one.

You look ABSOLUTELY amazing & quite sexy. I just went through complete upper & lower implants here in the US & it was close to 50K. I am now in the "permanents" process where I'm having fittings with wax models every week or so—to make sure that the final teeth are perfectly placed, etc. This entire thing started Feb 10th & I am SO OVER IT. What a crap year so far. LOL

The cement that was used with my braces in high school "ate through" the enamel of my teeth so I've been fighting to keep them all my adult life. I have wasted thousands of dollars in this useless quest (root canals, caps, crowns, veneers, more root canals, gah) so I finally decided to have all of them pulled & implants put in. My god & I volunteered for this shit. haha

I have nothing but respect for the amount of pain you have gone through because I know that my own pain was MINUTE compared to what you've been through in your life.

edit to answer question: It's wonderful to be able to bite into an apple & eat Captain Crunch again. I missed Captain Crunch! The temporaries aren't placed exactly where they should be so I look odd & I'm a little tired of that, but so far so good.

Oh yes - I had all of them pulled out. GOOD TIMES! hahahaaa

Oh MAN I'm so sorry you had to go through that! My god.

I LOOOOVE the implant surgeon here - he really knows his stuff (in Louisville KY). Lots of tests & measuring & a cat scan to measure bone density before the surgery. The surgery itself is a little freaky/scary because everything is pulled yet you leave at the end of the day with perfect white teeth (temporary teeth, but still). Hurt like a mother for 2-3 days but pain meds are a wonderful thing.

They will tell you that most people are able to go to work within a few days—"some even the next day" - I call bullshit on that one. Just smile, nod your head & be prepared to stay home for a week. :-)

It's worth it - really. It really is. It took me a while to get used to them (sounds, feeling, pressure) but I'm good now. It's CRUCIAL to get your bite correct so expect lots of quick little visits to grind a spec here or there. LOL

edit: YOUR DENTIST WAS AN ASS.
