College aged native here. What are your thoughts on the new recreational marijuana bill? Do you personally believe it has a chance to suceed even though a few portions have generated controversy?

Another question as an education major/native: What do you believe the solution is to our poor funding for AZ education? Our budget is an embarrassment and forces our kids below national standards.

Obviously not Rep. Mendez, but as I am aware you will not be paying taxes (or the large amount rec will at least) and your limits will be higher.

Arizona spends almost the least throughout the country on educaton. We currently spend just $4000 per student in the classroom compared to $6000 nationally. Meanwhile, we spend something along the lines of $20000+per AZ inmate. The problem in AZ is funding and one of the components to the solution is definitely money.

I know you're joking, but it is proven that further education keeps children out of jail when they are adults. We would be spending less on inmates as whole if we increased individual spending per student in schools. That's how these numbers compare. Hopefully recreational marijuana will become legalized so we will no longer spend this money on small drug offense inmates rather than education.
