Hello Natalia,

Thanks for doing this! I am an immigrant myself, applied for an E based greencard in June 2001, then 9/11 happened.... Needless to say it took a while to get it, in Oct 2006 I finally got it. Still not a Citizen, don't see the need. Pay tax but can't vote... (something something taxation-representation.. all good)

My friends ask me how I feel about DACA and things like TPS etc given that I had such a uncertain 6 years to get mine (could not change jobs, didn't dare by a house etc). Well, situations differ and I am here by CHOICE. I am educated, smart and will do well where ever. So if Trump kicks me out, so be it. As for people on TPS and DACA I see things differently... they came to the US under the most horrible circumstances and I am glad programs like TPS and DACA exist.

That said, these programs were temporary in nature... and herein lies my issue... everyone is using humanitarian/utilitarian arguments to get them stay. "They have build up lives" etc... but I liken it to a company doing illegal things (e.g. selling copies of DVD's) and then lamenting the loss of jobs when it finally gets shut down. Those job were not truthful/fair to start with. I have the same emotion here. The program should not have been made temporary in retrospect if we wanted them to stay. And if we want people to stay, why pick these 800.000? Why not invite 800.000 scientist, thinkers, writers to come instead?

Again that said, my more nefarious side thinks that keeping 800.000 people here is briliant for the US. We get relatively cheap labor, from people who are legally in limbo, they will pay taxes and pay into the social security system but can never collect. This keeps our insolvent social security net from imploding too soon and prices for products/services down. I sometimes think that a lot of people also secretly subscribe to this argument to get people to stay while touting the humanitarian aspects.

My final view is that either Congress passes a bill making these people Citizens (And I applaud Trump for punting it to shit Congress) OR we send them back outright! But let's not keep them in the in between limbo state they are in now. That is not fair to them.

Do you do pattern recognition on the paper itself to date it? That was my grad project on Etchings from Rembrandt.

A person brought as a child into the country illegally has done nothing selves that is illegal

I see an issue with this argument, since Obama had to put something like DACA in place to keep them. Sadly there mere presence is the 'illegal' part.

And of course they contribute to society! I am generalizing on why we need people who just showed up vs people we would pick if given a choice.
