What about the moon being in the earth's shadow makes it appear red? Also, is it possible for earth to ever appear in transit across the sun from the surface of Mars? Like Venus can for us?

Thank you! I suspected this was the answer but had conflicting information! If one of our rovers/spacecraft could one day capture an Earth transit from Mars, that would be incredible. One day, perhaps.
