Lorin, first and foremost thank you for everything you do. From your music to your live performances to your message, I love it all.

Before I got the chance to see you play live, I was a casual fan; I liked your stuff but I wasn’t the fan I am today. You made me into one the old-fashioned way, by showing me what you could do. My first Bassnectar show was Bonnaroo 2015, and your set was the high point of a night that I refer to as, with no reservation, the greatest night of my life. Since then I’ve seen you play twice more: at the inaugural Okeechobee Festival (I still think about that Welcome to the Jungle x Heads Up intro all the time), and then I rang in 2017 in Bassingham at 360. That 360 show was the most incredible, immersive, omnitempo maximalist musical event I’ve ever experienced. I was good and truly speechless from the moment I walked through the doors into Joker’s set until I walked back out of the arena. I’m trying my hardest to make it to 360 again this year, because I don’t think I can celebrate New Year’s Eve any other way after last year.

Your music has shaped me in a way that I can only compare to the way that The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin shaped my high school days. It has been an incredibly positive influence on my life, and I cannot thank you enough for that. The new EP is awesome, and I can’t wait until I get the chance to hear those tracks live and in person.

I know this is an AMA so I feel like I should ask you a question instead of just telling my story. So: What are some of the most difficult challenges that you’ve faced as an artist? And when’s the next mixtape coming out? Because, well..

You mean Bassnectar? I can definitely recommend some stuff for you to check out if that's the case.
