What is in your opinion the "most likely to succeed" psychedelic drug for positive medical applications?

Out of personal experience, psilocybin has left me with amazing reflection upon the experience of the "trip" as well as the people who shared in the experience, even if the experience was, at times, a negative experience. I have heard of mushrooms being used to help alcoholics, and that psilocybin actually shuts down areas of the brain, instead of over activating them. My question: How do these characteristics (if correct) of psilocybin help to cure alcoholism?
