So what are the safest ways to handle a friend's OD?

I've lost a friend or two to them, and while I wasn't there at the time, I'd like to be able to help if I am.

Also, congrats on your (ongoing) recovery!

I would upvote the implicit suggestion to talk to BDSM folks forever if I could.

Lots of folks in the BDSM community are both interested in questions of consent (look up "yes means yes" and "enthusiastic consent") and sex-positive. Their goal (usually) is to develop models of negotiation and consent that enable people to happily and healthily engage, not just in sex, but specifically in sex featuring aggression, authority, and domination. Because of that, they're highly aware of both the significant charge these can bring to the table and the serious problems sex highlighting these can raise.

I should clarify: this would be for others, since I don't use opioids. The emergency kit is a general disaster-preparedness kit.

edited to add: I don't think any of my friends have a habit, either, but I've learned over the years that I don't always know these things.

But, yes, upvotes for harm reduction and clean needle programs!

Thanks for this (both of you); I'll try and find some to stash in my emergency kit.

Yes, that's right, but Congress nearly-unanimously reauthorized the list in 2006. So it's not based on the 60's.

Scalia's theory was the MC's didn't feel free to vote the way they wanted because of organized political pressure. I have a hard time wrapping my head around this from the author of a DOMA opinion that leans so heavily on the political process but, hey, post-2000 Scalia no longer fetishizes consistency.
