What have TV and the movies got wrong about terrorist attacks and how people respond to them?

I've been doing standup for about a year now, every chance I get.
What's one bit of advice you have for someone like me, basically just starting out?

Alex, a few years ago, when the Family Guy Season 1 boxed set first came out, a friend of mine sent in the slip cover to you and you signed it and sent it back. We were marveling at how awesome that was, and I said I should send something for you to sign, but make it weird, like, someone else entirely. The first name that popped into my head was Don Rickles.
So I went on eBay, bought an 8x10 of Don Rickles in 3 pictures, printed out 3 pictures of you from the internet, cut your face out and taped them to Don's face. Then I wrote a letter about how I was your 636th biggest fan, and I couldn't afford a real picture of you, and I signed it Hector Q McGilllicutty.
You signed it and sent it back!!! It's still one of my favorite stories!
