She doesn't have a PhD in nutrition or how food affects the microbiome (and hasn't done any work with humans). The scope of expertise in science is quite narrow, especially for a young researcher. She tried to generalize and answer your question even though it wasn't about her particular focus. I think that's pretty good!

I have a PhD but would be nervous to do an AMA on my topic. People would expect me to know things that in my view aren't my are of expertise even if they are generally in my field. We get very specialized.
