The more I learn about what is available in other "first world" countries the more I realize how NOT "first world" we are here in the United States. :(

My husband is Aussie and he never worries about "retirement" because apparently you guys are taken care of over there?

I live under the threat that by the time I hit retirement age there may not be any social security retirement $ left for my generation and we are expected to put $ in our own retirement in a system (investing in stocks) that bilked billions from people already.

It's no wonder you guys travel around the world without a worry. I have to think of what the hell I'm going to do if I live past 65...I guess there's always going homeless?

I don't know how easily this option is but can't you go back to your country for medical care? I only ask because perhaps not only will you receive free medical care but maybe even better care, depending on where it is. Plus, you will be back with your family, which will work wonders on your psyche, no doubt.

That's awesome. And to top all that off you guys get paid pretty well for jobs over there, it seems.

Well, that's the way it should be...when you live in a society that society needs to make it worth the citizens wanting to be part of that system.

I love my country, nonetheless but I do worry as I get older.

I thought that even illegal residents can apply for Medical...perhaps that's changed?
