I don't think it has happened at all here in Arizona. I doubt it's happened elsewhere either. When they are sold, they are sold to a dealer, which means they are sold with a background check after that, just like any new gun sold.

As for the selling vs destroying part, it seems stupid to me to destroy them. That costs money. Selling them gains money.

Thinking like a lawyer....Wouldn't suing you require them to contact you through notice? Wouldn't that be a violation of the no contact?

Right, there's no way that many legal ones have been stolen or lost.
