You write very well about we interact with technology nowdays. The use of smartphones, email and social networking in Halting State and Rule 34 is very believable. With the possible exception of Sherlock very few pieces of fiction actually use these techniques. In horror films "out of coverage" has become a cliche. If All Movies Had Smartphones is a funny video on how writers can't create plots that take technology into account.

How are you doing this right and nearly everyone else isnt?

It's great fun for infovores.

It is probably not that productive a use of time. Productivity growth seems to have slowed down once social sharing sites got popular.

Are we likely to only read people in our bubble and get complacent?

Ireland is finally getting post codes. And it looks like turning into a mockery if a travesty of a sham. How could open street map have helped ireland get better cheaper post codes than purely commercial methods?

Software Patents, What is your opinion on them?

Should business be allowed to patent mathematics?

Disclosure: I have software patents. My old company used to ask us to write some up. I think they are stupid. I shouldn't have created them, but I did.
