First off, I love the pick for #1. A Seat at the Table is an incredible album.

2016 was an incredible year for music, which makes the pick for The Life of Pablo at #5 seem like an interesting placement. I, like much of the Pitchfork staff, regard Kanye West as a vanguard, but TLOP felt disjoint (even with incredible bright spots; Ultralight Beam, Real Friends, etc). Where does the love for this album come from and is that love separate from the love for Kanye West as an artist and influencer?
