How much interaction do you have with your national government? Do they respect your tribal independence?

I guess what most perplexes me is: How people allow themselves to be indoctrinated to donate 10% of their income to an organization that pays no taxes and has wreaked some of the most horrible evils in human history in service to a theoretically divine, merciful, and just creator.

In my estimation the Bible is a set of stories created and given special status to keep people "civilized", and from poisoning themselves eating meats we didn't know how to prepare. Since its creation it has been repeatedly abused to allow a small group of people to exist off the hard work of their "flock" while otherizing whoever is necessary to keep the people malleable and their wallets open... and diddling their kids.

Q: Given the amount of progress we've made socially and scientifically and the number of contradictions between the Church's espoused beliefs and its actions, how can the Church stay relevant going forward?
