The last 2 Coronavirus variants that caused outbreaks - SARS and MERS - rapidly went extinct.

This is incorrect. Neither is extinct. SARS occurs exclusively in animals now but the WHO has listed it as a risk to make the jump back to infecting humans. MERS still does infect humans; the WHO reports almost 3,000 lab-confirmed cases of MERS as of the end of November 2019. https://www.who.int/emergencies/mers-cov/en/

Are you a fan of "Welcome to the NHK"? Unless you haven't seen it, can you comment on how accurate you think the show is in showing what it's like to be hikikomori?

I almost wonder whether you might be a great candidate for doing industrial safety training. You would be Exhibit A not just physically but would be able to share your experience as a cautionary tale. Is that something you've considered?

I think that's a stretch. I think OP meant that the public opinion changed once the war was brought home to the people. If you read "Berlin Diary" by Shirer, the CBS reporter who lived in Germany for years before the war and kept a diary of observations about Hitler's rise to power, he confirms was a very, very high number of Germans who were very much in favour of Hitler and deceived by the propaganda machine. Not everyone, obviously, but seems to have been a fairly large proportion.
