Vpn providers will offer ssl for their own website to acquire a VPN. Pay with some anonymous currency like bitcoin. Don't give them an email address. Use a malware free computer.

All outsiders (NSA and such) should be able to see is that you visited the website of a VPN provider, but nothing more.

Also, I'm by no means an expert and there's probably corrections to this by others.

Please revisit this standpoint if you're ever in a position where your software influences a large number of people.
