US citizen here. What are your thoughts about the NSA data collection leaks from Edward Snowden? Has this changed the conversation in Austrailia? Did you and fellow internet freedom pioneers always assume this was happening or were you shocked to find out the extent of the surveillance?

As a young person who recently graduated with a history degree, how do I "get involved" with investigative journalism these days without selling out? The idea of joining the endless cacophony of mainly inane bloggers, free lancers, tweeters, pundits and "internet personalities" is intimidating.

Graduate school? Internship? Low level job at whatever media company I can find? Work abroad (I speak Spanish)? A kind of related start up?
