Thanks for sharing your story. It was so heartbreaking to read about what you and others endured and I’m so proud of all the wonderful (mostly women) who took him down. Im excited to read your book! I’m curious about what was going on when Keith first fled to Mexico. When that happened, were you alarmed and what was your response? Secondly, when you got your first job outside of NXVIM, what was that like? Did seeing other people in a normal workplace impact your thoughts about the cult at the time?

Woah...For comparison, I am also a graduate student in a different country and make more than that for base stipend where the cost of living is much lower (however, stipends also vary depending on faculty and departments, and even differ for TAing requirements). I would be furious in your situation.. so sorry you guys are going through that!! I can’t even imagine that added stress on top of normal grad school stress.

It didn’t come across as inauthentic is what I am saying. The content still felt genuine to me. The vow was the one that more factual and task driven (ie. bring it down), while seduced was more the personal side and how it felt to be there and what the thought process was like while you were in it. Just how I processed it I guess!

Oh interesting! I actually felt the opposite. It seemed very authentic and honest to me. Like the vow was more of a “ presentation” about the cult itself and what was going on while seduced was the human side of it, and to me the humanness and authenticity stood out with India’s seduced project.
