Not to mention that when you’re a woman and get raped, a lot of outside factors get brought in. “Were you drinking?” “What were you wearing?” “Did you lead him on” “did you ACTUALLY say no?” And women start to get the idea of “what’s the point if I’m going to be vilified while he’s a ‘good guy who made a bad choice’”?

And you’re also opening up your whole sexual history to be scrutinized. “How many people would you say you’ve slept with?” “Do you go out drinking often and accept drinks from men?” Everything you’ve done is now out under a microscope. And like you said, if you have mutual friends some of them are going to tell you to just drop it because you’re going to ruin his life and future.

I’m really sorry that happened to you. Clearly, as rape victims a lot needs to be done as far as victim advocacy and rights and how rape victims should be handled when it comes to pressing charges and moving forward with a case. As far as my comment goes though, I’m a woman so that’s my experience. I can’t comment on what it’s like to be a man and be raped. It wasn’t my intention to come across as sexist. I’m just giving my story and what happens for women.

Yep. It was an SVU episode. But I also feel like there’s a Law and Order episode about everything.

I’m not a man so I can’t say what happens when a man gets raped. I’m sure it’s nearly the same though. But I’m not going to make a comment about something that I can’t understand.
