The stereotype that HSV+ positive people had unprotected casual sex or cheated on a parter is just that: a stereotype. It's rooted in fear and judgment, and is a great example of how the stigma surrounding STIs functions.

I'm herpes+, I was dating someone who didn't know they had it, and now I have it too. I always disclose to my partners, and I love having sex. Sometimes that sex is impulsive, but it's always safe.
