breaking the water molecule is quite a feat, ending in oxygen and hydrogen bound to some carrier. Any chance of repurposing photosynthesis to make hydrogen gas?

carbon capture: isnt growing a forrest good enough of a method, or do we need to utilize the other ~70% of the surface of the earth towards achieving our goals?

(endo)symbiosis always amazed me, and certainly so with the rhizobium nitrogen fixing bacteria. You think if left to itself long enough, it could evolve to become fully integrated in plants to a level like chloroplast, or mitochondria which both have an external origin? Or can we engineer plants towards this goal?

secondary metabolism: is there in theory anything a plant couldnt synthesize? With some engineering, could we make plants synthesize any type of molecule? Maybe to produce specific drugs? We have the other way around drugs originating from plants, but can we make a plant produce any drug we wish?

Thanks, and feel free contextualize and ELIF for the other redditors.
