I met a nigerian guy awhile back who told me that sororities/fraternities in nigerian universities are pure evil and have evolved to become something like cults/gangs. He painted a grim picture of how there was this particular all girl group who went around raping guys.have you heard of this and if so could you elaborate more on why its like that,if its on an increase/decline and if you have an stories/experiences from such.

Manglish is the way lah. That's actually a very good observation. The only locals so versed in English that I've met had some level of their education abroad. Mostly uni. I have heard though that there are international schools catering specifically to combat manglish. I think its safe to deduce that OP is from an above average Malaysian family.

Expanding on this a little. I'm an optical engineering student and while completing my thesis found the lack of relevant information in my research topic unnerving. I presume being in the research field you are used to this. As students living in the digital age we more or less think everything has been discovered and published and therefore are completely unprepared to discover a brick wall. I now know better, but I'd like to know your advice in regards to all this for anyone interested in pursuing research and most importantly the right way to go about contacting professors from other universities/countries such that they don't consider you a leech.

Im a foreign student in Malaysia and the one thing I've noticed through out my stay here is how chill locals are. Even in cases where serious questions and therefore pressure exerted on the authorities ( ie recently a bus caring 32 undergrads had an accident-bus accidents are becoming a nuisance) is required, they'd rather sit and hope the authorities do their job diligently. Bar praying at KLIA, I have yet to see an organised mass demonstration questioning the handling of this case more, the issuing of information and the treatment of NOK. I'm yet to be convinced all the information was given out.

That being said, I've also noticed that the general consensus( well atleast where am at) is that the pilot wasn't responsible and thus the blame is entirely on the airline/government more so that the foreign media hyped this angle up. If i may say so,It appears he is being shielded. What is your view on this?is there an angle as the NOK you share or is the general feeling that of anger and less of blame?

Adding on to this, I presume the pilots NOK are also present during the meetings? If so how is the feeling towards them?I'd assume the airline tries to make matters civil and therefore avoids all questions pertaining to the pilot.

not OP but i stay in malaysia .It isn't front page news anymore but there's always something about it somewhere in the newspaper. Right now yesterdays the sun on its front page has Obamas visit and the south Korean prime ministers resignation.in fact the only mention of it not related to Obama is on page 7.maybe there really isn't anything new to report hence the lack of focus on it.
