Great answer! Personally, I think a conflict is a set conflict after a certain time; once war is declared, the relations between the affected states usually do not alter much. Would not the turmoil of the 20s and 30s be a great series? the depression, bootlegging, political upheaval in Europe, warlords in china, post-war colonial policies.... etc. Especially relevant since we are now in a 'similar' 'era of peace', maybe?

As history is written by the winners, how do you choose the frame and nuance of your story? For example, the western view of the Russian war is different from Russian accounts. How do you decide the direction and viewpoint?
