I know you recommend some expensive specialty brands, but what brand would you recommend for someone who absolutely refuses to shop anywhere but a big brand department store for their vacuum?

I'm an Electronics Technician about to get out of the Navy (I worked on airfield communications systems & did micro circuit repair). What kind of opportunities are there for me? I'm completely flexible about where I live and totally willing to travel.
