Like what countries are you talking about? On its face it seems absurd, as well as all research I've seen. So what data are you referencing?

It makes things that would upset you into one that looks real and more cartoony, so it makes your emotional reactions less, so you can see whatever the photo is and learn from it (such as from surgery or trying to find clues in it, or such)

Yes, pretty much, if you wanna call it that. Photo manipulation to be make your emotional reaction not as strong.

Have you looked into cognitive-behavioral therapy? It can be pretty effective.
But as far as this is concerned, they built a browser extension so you can totally download that and see what it does for you.
