Why do you think that this was almost immediately forgotten on the world stage? That always seemed bizarre to me.

Oh, nice comparasion! It brings together the cohesive views of his early work with the colorful psychidelics of his later works

I often see the instrument Melody uses in Pokemon 2000 referred to as an ocarina, but it doesn't look like any I've ever seen (it has a dial on it, for one). I see STL Ocarina sells a replica of it and calls it that, so is that really the case? Can they really have dials? Can they be even more complex than that?

(sorry for the image quality in the video--it's the only clip I could find that had footage of her playing it)

Awesome! Interesting to know. I would imagine even if the air blew normally, moving the dial would make a loud clicking sound. I'll be curious to see those theories and experiments!

Of course that movie also had a gigantic airship that seemed to stay along from...helicopter rotors, so it wasn't exactly made with an eye towards realism, despite what the writer would probably tell you (he rather notoriously picked up some very bad habits while researching a very minor sailor character in it and it's believed to have wrecked his health. The most unhealthy thing the sailor character does in the film is eat some potato chips).
