How hard was it to actually get on the show?

I've always wanted to get on but it seems impossible :(

What do you think led to Julian burning so many bridges? We learned so much about him in my classes growing up (spent a little more than the last decade in everything from comp science to software engineering.) His story and past are so interesting, I'm really interested to know if it was just ego, or what combination of things it was to lead to his falling out with so many past acquaintances.

Where were the auditions? Was it announced to be in the area you're in, or did you find out about it on the internet and just went and tried it out?
