Spicy or dill?

Nolan's work is amazing and I have been a massive fan for many years now, but can you please tell him the maxed out sound is just too much? What is the reasoning behind this?

As avid moviegoers my wife and I braved COVID to see Tenet and to show our support to Nolan and the film industry. It was much too loud to the point my ears were hurting and the experience became grating and I lost all interest in the movie. It became more of a "I can't wait until this misery ends" instead of the typical Nolan films where I'm going "holy shit how does this end?"

I have never had that experience before and neither had my wife. It was too bad as the initial plan was to go see it multiple times in the theater to show our support. I know that he and his team spend so much time and energy poring over tiny details which make his films as amazing as they are. It's just a shame that one tiny intentional director choice could completely tank a film. I will give it another shot when it comes out at home and I can physically turn it down as needed.
