Loved and worked in Japan for about 9 years. Companies look for a couple of things: visa status, language proficiency and family ties. Even as a foreigner with permanent residence status, Japanese wife, two kids born in Japan and business level Japanese, it was usually assumed that I would one day leave. And guess what? I did. You know why? Work/life balance and pay in Japan sucks. Great place to live, terrible place to work.
