What is a "mission in this case?

Please correct me if I'm wrong about, like, any of this - I'll readily admit to being a little rusty on Senate procedures.

Your comment here seems to imply you have a plan that will perform better than just voting for the bill whenever it's brought to the table. Since votes are ultimately the only thing that determines whether a bill passes, I'm curious as to what that plan could be? I'm all for talking to the other senators and trying to gain votes there, but so far I haven't seen you mention anything like that - you've just said that you support this bill.

So yeah, I guess, that's my question: what do you bring to the table, that the other senators you're running against don't?

One thing to consider when choosing a voting method is that no matter how perfect the system is, people need to be able to understand how it works. Ranked choice is fairly simple, but I've never heard of STAR. Does someone mind summarizing it?

If he was advertising this as an alternative to banks, then yes, I would agree that it would be vaguely predatory and fairly useless. (Though as an aside, large banks are also massively predatory, so I wouldn't be too harsh on him for simply copying their business model.)

But... that isn't what this is, whatsoever. He isn't marketing this at people who are already good at investing and know how to get the most out of banking and interest and so on. He's marketing this at the people who have massive lottery addictions, and are wasting every penny as soon as they earn it on buying more lottery tickets. This is a way for them to wean themselves off of that addiction, and actually start saving some money instead of throwing it all away. And if he's earning some money off of that process... so what? If I have a service that can save someone $100 every year, why shouldn't I charge them $5 to use that service? They're still saving $95, and I can earn enough money to stay in business and keep the service running. Unless you want to argue against the very concept of Capitalism, this seems fine to me.

If you're in the mood for entirely unsolicited advice... I suggest you take some time to be sad with her as well. If you're always trying to be happy for her, and she's always trying to be happy for you, you can both end up bottling up your sadness until it bursts out. Don't let it consume your time together, and don't let it prevent you from having the good times you want to have, but... let the sadness have a seat at the table, is all. I think it's healthier that way.
