I work as an interpreter in the US, and I keep hearing about how computers may start to displace human interpreters and translators in many settings, maybe within the next 20 years. Sometimes I think that is ridiculous, but lately I am not so sure. Is this something you think about?

I agree our jobs are safe for today. It's hard to imagine many interpreters and translators losing their jobs in five or ten years. But beyond that the future gets a little hazy to me. I think it might be worth knowing how to work with computers on translation challenges, but learning those skills will come at a cost too.
