What about a CV for PhD level scientists? Many times they extend beyond those page limits. Is that acceptable? What would you recommend?

Thank you for your help! I'm never sure which to submit when applying for non-academic positions. Because everyone surrounding me is an academic lifer, they don't have much insight into the process either.
