Awesome AMA.

One of my life goals has been to be part of a boxer's posse as he walks into the ring. Preferably I would be holding the belt he is defending. How did you chose who would come to the ring with you? Do you choose the song or does the promoter/your manager etc.?

thanks so much for the answer. Best of luck in the future.

The GOP argument isn't that poor people shouldn't get health care, it's that no one should be forced to subsidize poor people's health care. It becomes effectively the same thing since if you need money to get health care and you have no money, then you don't get care.

Even if the ACA did reduce costs and help people it wouldn't matter for the libertarian wing of the GOP. The first principle that the wealthy should not be forced to subsidize the poor has been violated meaning that the policy is immoral and can't continue regardless of the benefits.

I don't think that many of the vocal opponents are attacking the ACA from the left like you do (though I agree with you that single payer style systems are preferable and hopefully the ACA can be modified in that direction). For the right, a "market based system" is better morally and (they fervently believe) for reducing costs. I think that the moral based argument is more important for them and would trump any unfavorable cost outcomes in real life.

Were you a member of AFSCME mid-missouri? I used to organize with them and a number of the local organizers had ties to the hospital.

Mid-MO AFSCME worked hard. The laws in MO make it tough. The Missouri GOP was/is not friendly to public sector unions.
