Do you use an SDR? What do you think about RTL-SDR?

I have an RTL-SDR and it's more like a "toy" - fun to play with and discover some signals, but not really great for receiving weak or distant stations. If you can afford something better than an RTL-SDR, then probably it will be a good idea (although I don't have anything to compare it to).

SDR means "software defined radio". A REALLY simple explanation of it would be that it's a radio receiver that you plug into your computer/phone/etc., most often via USB. Then you can use software to receive radio signals - for example SDRSharp (screenshot). And you can receive all kinds of signals within the tuner's frequency range - software is the limit.
