I find general copy/paste/font formatting in Lync to be tiresome and not on par with a standard Windows application experience. is there any likelihood of improving these basic functions?

General windows functionality such as shift+click to highlight more and more text simply doesn't work. At least in the version I'm on.

Well, I'd have to get it hands on before I can answer. For copying before, the text highlights awkwardly over each IM and can be difficult to selectively highlight.
