That's actually hilarious. I hope one day to see deathbed confessions by your fellow profs. "Remember that article on sea turtle cancer back in 2017? Yeah that was me. Here's the proof."

I have (had?) astigmatism too. Same results for me. Some blurriness at night (halos around lights mostly). And one eye is very very slightly better (but that's not uncommon in people with natural 20/20 I don't think). Overall I enjoy my eyesight better now than before.

Hello there. I was a victim of a high profile shooting as well (I did an AMA couple years ago), and just wanted to say I wish you well. I hope you don't blame yourself for the deaths of others like I do at times. It's certainly had a terrible impact on my life in some ways and it's so weird to go through life with this invisible burden on me (or us). I don't really have a question, just wanted to wish you well. I guess my question would be that: how are you now? Are you living as normal a life as possible? Do you have any personal advice to deal with it? Obviously everyone deals with trauma differently, so I'm just curious how you deal with it since you're putting it out there. Thanks

I used to live in Cheyenne. "Beautiful in its own way" sums up just about all of eastern Wyoming! No offense but you couldn't pay me to go back there! Colorado is beautiful though and western Wyoming is nice too.

No. Right after the surgery it was the worst (which is normal) but it got better over the following 6 months or so and leveled out to how it is now. I can see just fine at night and it doesn't effect my ability to night drive or walk around or whatever. The halos are almost unnoticeable to me. In fact I was able to join the military after the surgery and never had any issues marching at night, driving at night or doing anything that regular people could do.

I have heard, however, that for some people the halos can be quite bad. It's just one of the risks involved unfortunately.
