Thanks for the response! My house was not affected as I live in another county. I just meant my home area. I did talk to the guys at the FD down the street from me and they don't offer a volunteer program. Haha. I guess I should just apply for employment.

Nice! An AMA I have questions for! As a local firefighter/paramedic, I'm not sure what info you'll have on this, but during the recent fires destroying my home of Northern California, I wanted to join the fight so bad. I filled out applications and contacted CalFire. But all I got in return was them saying they don't need anyone right now or I live in the wrong county. It just didn't make sense to me. I would obviously drive to the affected county. Can you offer any insight into this? I would think they take all who are willing and able (that aren't idiots, obviously).
