It sounds like you might be operating on out of date information. While it's true the Amazon has always had occasional fires, in recent years changing weather patterns have made those fires last longer and start in areas that previously didn't see many fires. On top of all that many parts of the Amazon are becoming dryer and experiencing longer droughts because of changing weather patterns. Land is also being cleared at a faster rate by farmers and cattle producers (sometimes by using fire) which weakens the Amazons ability to resist the effects of fires.

Wow, that's super interesting! I'm going to keep that prediction in mind when I'm reading books/papers about other subjects, I wonder what other theories I'll find have an overwhelming majority of folks in their favor.
