First I just want to say I love C&H.

Second, Dave, I noticed you didn't start doing the crazy faces until somewhat recently. Was there some sort of reaction to them that made you turn it into your thing?

Third, Rob, your comics during Depressing Comic Week are always the best. How does it feel to know you're probably the most mentally disturbed in the bunch?

It wasn't a bad first job, to be honest. I was 16 at the time and in high school. I got to work with people my own age, stay out late, watch free movies, etc. Over time the soul sucking definitely becomes apparent though. During my year there I started in concessions because they thought I was too good with people to be an usher (people who clean the theaters, sometimes handle the ticket podium), then they moved me into the box office to sell tickets because I was fast and could handle cash accurately (at the time we didn't use any machines or anything to calculate change, it was just a pull out drawer and we did it all in our head. It wasn't very hard but I guess there are a lot of stupid people in the world), and finally they put me in the "booth" position, upstairs running the projectors. It was nice up there because I didn't have to deal with people, but it was boring too. It was also cold because they keep the AC cranked up there. Once the round of movies started all I had to do was hang out and make sure film didn't start wrapping or anything. A little over a year later when I graduated high school I just decided I didn't want to work at a movie theater anymore, so that was that.

I made $6.25 at a Cinemark theater in 2001, but over time I got enough raises to make a whopping $7.27/hour. Plus, free movies! I was like, why would I ever leave this place?!
