This incident is/was on the curriculum at Space Camp. The verdict we were taught was that the judge let Buzz of because Bart "had it coming".

For the JOI burn, the craft was set to immediately reboot any failed system and try again. As long as 20 minutes out of the 35 minutes of the burn were successful they'd have a salvageable orbit, but if they waited to fix the problem it would sail past Jupiter and never come back.

Could a fully operational Orion launch on Delta-IV Heavy or some other rocket with higher flight rates than SLS for LEO missions or for docking with larger vehicles (like a Mars transit vehicle launched by SLS) in order to allow more flexibility in mission design?
