Why focus on Aboriginal women rather than Aboriginal murder on the whole? An article from your newspaper indicates that:

Aboriginal men were seven times more likely to be homicide victims than non-aboriginal males, while the homicide rate for indigenous women was six times higher than for their non-indigenous counterparts.

Another article, from the National Post:

The new data show that aboriginal people were victims at a rate about six times higher than that of non-aboriginals, with First Nations men facing triple the risk faced by aboriginal females in 2014.

Emphasis mine.

Is it due to the high level of serial homicide involved in the cases?

To be fair, I don't think that they are counting suicide as murder in the statistics I quoted. I also don't know if, statistically, we count police killings as "murder" in the same sense, either.

Your point about known vs. unknown causes may be right. I don't know anything about the rates of missing women vs. men - that statistic may cause more investigation.

Outside of the TV Club, whose reviews do you read? Of which shows?

Can I get a link to that syllabus? I'd love to see the reading list.
