If you go for a roomba, buy from Hammacher Schlemmer for the lifetime guarantee. I've gotten my money back twice for roombas that crapped out after a few years.

The newer models (700 series and later) seem much more reliable, though. Definitely lots better at not getting clogged with hair. If hair isn't a problem then the 600 series is fine. The newest 800 series got another major brush redesign that I don't have experience with, but I'm not desperate to upgrade like I was with the last generation.
