Can you elaborate too? I'd like to hear about this from the adoptee's side - what soured your relationship?

Oh jeez. I read through that whole thing and was like "wow, maybe I'll do something cool with my life too" and then went to your imdb page and we're exactly the same age to the month. You are lightyears ahead of me! :)

She is kind of testing your love and trying to prove that you too (as her biological parents) will abandon her and you too can't be trusted.

This is so true, but so hard to deal with in its extreme forms.. because no matter how much conviction you have to not abandon them, they won't stop pushing until they make it happen - it's not like if you don't abandon them after they do X horrible thing, they'll realize that you never will.. they'll just up the ante and keep going.

How old were you when you were adopted, and was your older brother also adopted? Do you think his personality stems from a different reaction to the same kind of abuse you suffered?

I've heard of hyper religious people doing this kind of thing.. adopting kids just to build a flock and trying to make them into little soldiers or perfect Christian sons and daughters.
