Hah I kicked a cleat on the boat one day, and while the cut was superficial, it bled like crazy. I didn't want to sit out the dive cause it was one of my only chances to see a shark on Cayman (they show up on the north side in the fall, but the weather is bad. You only to get to dive the north side 3 or 4 times during the fall.) It freaked my divers out when their bleeding DM led the dive specifically to see sharks.

I have definitely spent the night drunk in my car with the ignition on.

That was also February in Michigan. Chances are I'd be dead if it wasn't for the heater.

I don't really understand why these technicalities are necessary. If there's someone passed out in their car, wait for them to put it in gear. If I were a cop I'm pretty sure I could position my car out of sight of a passed-out-drunk enough to block their egress if their reverse lights came on. Like pull up behind them with your lights off. Done and done.

Edit: or ya know, offer some assistance. Maybe call a cab?

Oh man, I had a bouncer working for me who was a 40something semi-retired police officer from Detroit. Dude was a badass, but also stopped fights before the people who would've fought even knew they were mad.

The independent contractor status for stateside instructors is bullshit! I tried to teach in Michigan for a bit, but found that after expenses I was making like $3/hour.

Yea, we saw nurse sharks a couple times a week. The only proper shark I saw was a 7' reef shark diving Cayman's north wall from shore in REALLY bad conditions during my IDC. I rounded a corner of the wall at about 100', and it was like 60' away swimming towards me. It got one look at my bubbles and took off.
